About this skill
Unlike "audit my internal links" prompts and the paid internal-linking skills here, this one runs a script on your own crawl export: it finds orphan pages, pages buried 4+ clicks deep and weak anchors, then names the exact page to link from, the page to link to and the anchor text. Nothing is guessed: every flag comes from your link graph.
Sample run (real site, 22 Oct 2026): plausible.io, full crawl of 350 HTML pages + its 2 sitemaps (300 URLs). The bundled internal_link_audit.py (v1.0.1) found:
- 18 orphan pages: listed in a sitemap, linked from nowhere. 6 proxy setup guides (CloudFront, Fastly, Akamai, Next.js, Deno, Fresh), 3 job ads, /trademark, and /layouts/changes (a template path that leaked into the sitemap)
- 2 pages 4 clicks from the homepage: the WordPress proxy guide and the Postman API guide (1 inlink)
- 24 pages that are linked but in neither sitemap (e.g. /giving-back, /docs/excluding-pages)
- 2 money pages whose inbound anchors never use the target phrase: /for-ecommerce (74% of anchors just "ecommerce") and /vs-matomo
- 6 exact links to add, e.g. /eu-hosted-web-analytics → /self-hosted-web-analytics with anchor "self hosted web analytics", /docs/traffic-spikes → /track-ai-traffic with "ai traffic"
- Side finding: /docs/sitemap.xml is not listed in robots.txt or the main sitemap Priority pages and target keywords were set by us for the test. 3,714 links to other domains were skipped automatically.
What it does
- Reads a crawler link export (Screaming Frog All Inlinks, Sitebulb, or any source/destination/anchor CSV) plus an optional pages list or sitemap
- Calculates unique inlinks, outlinks and click depth from the homepage for every page
- Flags ORPHAN, DEEP, UNDERLINKED_PRIORITY, GENERIC_ANCHORS, UNIFORM_ANCHOR, NO_KEYWORD_ANCHOR and NOT_IN_PAGE_LIST
- Suggests the 3 best pages to link from for each priority, orphan or deep page (topic overlap + page strength), with anchor text
- Writes a link plan and a before/after report for your re-crawl
Use cases
- Money pages that don't rank despite good content
- Orphan pages after a redesign, CMS move or docs migration
- Monthly internal-linking passes for content teams
